The TV channel was created at the suggestion of Alexei Miller, chairman of the Board of PJSC Gazprom, and in accordance with the instructions and Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, based on the sports editorial office of JSC Gazprom-Media Holding, technical equipment of ANO Sports Broadcasting (Panorama brand) and frequencies TV channel «Russia-2» (VGTRK).
